Event Details


The Sports Field, Grasmere, Cumbria, LA22 9SJ

Closing date

Entries will close at midnight on Sunday 27th May.  Unfortunately once entries close we will be unable to accept any more entries.  Please note we do not accept ‘on the day’ entries.


We regret that having entered the race we will not be able to provide any refund or credit, either in full or in part, whatever the circumstances of the entrant’s non-attendance. We ask that runners don’t give their numbers away to others in the event of their non-attendance.  Please note we do not offer deferrals of entries to future races.

Event registration

Registration for all events will be open from 8.00am to 10.30am.

Please allow plenty of time to register before the race.  At registration you will collect your timing chip and printed race number to attach to your vest.  Please take the time to write your emergency contact details and any relevant medical information on the reverse of your race number.  Pens and safety pins will be provided in the registration tent.

Registration for Under 16s

Under 16s are required to have a parent or guardian sign for their race number at registration, who should also escort them to the start line.  Parents/guardians remain responsible for their children throughout the event.


All events will start at 11am.

Please be at the designated muster point (marked with a flag) at 10.45am at the latest, ready to be ‘piped’ to the start line.

Please don’t make your own way to the start line. We have police support to stop traffic on the road at the start of the event; it is a police requirement that all competitors are assembled beforehand.


We are able to offer limited car parking on the Grasmere Sports Field site for competitors (LA22 9SJ).  Please arrive in good time to park and be aware that you may need to park in the village.  There is a National Park pay & display car park next to the sports field.

We would encourage you to car share wherever possible to limit the effect on the site and environment.  Parking at the sports field is free, but donations would be appreciated (donation boxes will be available).

Public transport

Grasmere is well served by buses; the Stagecoach 555 and 599 are the most regular services.  The nearest bus stop to the Sports Field registration area is located at Stock Lane (for the 555), immediately adjacent to the site, or Dove Cottage (for the 599).  You can find more details at


We aren’t able to offer any dedicated baggage storing facilities.  Those of you who park on the Sports Field site may be best advised to leave any baggage in your car. Any items left in the registration tent are done so at your own risk; please do not leave any valuables.

Changing facilities

Limited changing and shower facilities are available on the Sports Field site, located in the Pavilion.


Toilet facilities are available in the Pavilion and additional portable toilets.

Race photography

Photos will be taken during the event and extensive race pictures will be available to view and purchase after the event.

Timing and results

The timing system is provided by MyEventTime.  At registration you will receive a timing chip which much be fastened around your ankle throughout the race. Please hand your timing chip in to a member of staff if you retire. In a slight change to previous years your race time will start as you cross the start line (not when the claxon sounds).

Please make sure to return your timing chip at the finish area.

Results will be posted on the website as soon as possible on Sunday 3rd June.

First Aid

First Aid support will be provided by Mountain Trauma, and will be available on the course and at the finish.


There are several water stations located around the race route and at the finish area.  Hot drinks, and hot & cold snacks will be available for purchase on the Sports Field from Fell & Dale Catering.

Teddy Dash

For our younger visitors, registration for the Teddy Dash will take place at 11am, after the main races have left.  Please meet in the blue ‘star’ tent (next to the registration tent).  Entry costs £1, small change will be appreciated.


Due to the large numbers of people taking part, and the restricted space on many sections of the route, we regret that dogs are not permitted on the route.

Dogs are welcome on the main event field, but should be kept under close control.

Final check list – don’t forget:

  • Ensure that your race number is securely attached to your running vest / top and that it is clearly visible.
  • Bring with you a change of dry, warm clothing, and suncream.
  • Fasten your timing chip around your ankle, and return it at the end of the race.
